Sealy is the largest city in Austin County and is growing rapidly. Located at the crossroads of Interstate 10 and Highway 36, Sealy is just 50 miles West of downtown Houston and 22 miles from Katy, TX. Sealy’s location allows for access to a major city without sacrificing the relaxing atmosphere for you and your family.

Sealy ISD is “committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all”. They are also proud of the continued community support and involvement in school activities especially for their programs such as the FFA, robotics, athletics, art, and dance for grades from K-12 including the Blinn College Sealy Campus.

Families can enjoy an afternoon picnic at one of the many city parks, walk along the many walking/jogging trails and spend the day at the community pool. There are also several wineries and restaurants to visit as well as world class golf courses and nearby shopping centers.

Sealy History

Founded in 1879, Sealy has grown over time with the city of Houston. A city with history going back to the early 1800s when it was purchased as part of a railroad project from San Felipe, TX by the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad. The city later was named after local businessman, George Sealy and is the birthplace of Sealy mattress company.
